Menopause Management
Menopause
Menopause is when menstrual periods have stopped for 12 consecutive months. It is the natural end of your reproductive years, typically between ages 45–55, as your ovaries reduce production of estrogen and progesterone
Perimenopause
Perimenopause (sometimes called “the menopausal transition”) is the phase leading up to menopause. You’ll often notice changes such as irregular cycles, heavier or lighter bleeding, or hot flashes before menstruation fully stops
Surgical Menopause
Surgical menopause happens when the ovaries are removed (e.g. during hysterectomy with bilateral oophorectomy) or damaged (e.g. after certain treatments). In these cases, you often enter menopause immediately, even if you are younger than typical age, and symptoms may be more abrupt or intense
Why treat menopause & perimenopause symptoms?
Treating symptoms is not only about managing the experiences of menopause. It is also important for maintaining physical, mental, emotional, and relationship health. Hormonal changes can influence how you feel, think, and connect with others. Supporting your body through this stage helps you feel balanced and confident again.
Emotional balance and mental clarity
Hormone changes can affect mood, memory, and concentration. Managing symptoms can help you feel emotionally stable, reduce anxiety or irritability, and improve overall mental clarity.
Better sleep and focus
Hot flashes and night sweats often disrupt sleep and concentration. Evidence-based treatments, including hormonal and non-hormonal options, can reduce these symptoms so you can rest well and stay energized throughout the day.
Heart and overall health
Starting hormone therapy earlier, typically within about ten years of your last period, may help support heart and blood vessel health in some women. The method of treatment matters, and transdermal options such as patches may carry a lower risk of blood clots than oral forms.
Stronger bones and long-term wellness
Lower estrogen levels can lead to gradual bone loss. With proper use, estrogen therapy can help maintain bone strength and reduce the risk of fractures, supporting your long-term health and independence.
Comfort and intimacy
Low-dose vaginal estrogen and similar therapies can ease dryness, discomfort, and certain bladder symptoms. These treatments not only restore physical comfort but also support confidence and closeness in relationships.

Your safety always comes FIRST
Some health conditions require extra care or alternative treatments. These include a history of breast cancer or hormone-sensitive cancers, blood clots, stroke, heart disease, liver disease, or uncontrolled high blood pressure. Before starting any treatment, especially hormone therapy, we review your full medical history and provide ongoing monitoring to ensure your plan remains safe and effective.
Treatment Options
All treatment plans are personalized to your unique needs, with benefits and potential risks carefully discussed before starting.

Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT)
MHT is the most effective option for relieving hot flashes and night sweats. It can also help prevent bone loss and improve vaginal comfort. We individualize the type, dose, and form (such as patch, gel, or pill) based on your health history and preferences.

Non-hormonal Medications
For women who prefer not to use hormones or are not candidates for MHT, several prescription options can reduce hot flashes and improve sleep. These may include newer medications that target the brain’s temperature regulation or certain antidepressants used at low doses.

Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM) treatments
Vaginal moisturizers, lubricants, and low-dose vaginal estrogen can help relieve dryness, discomfort, and bladder symptoms. These treatments work locally with minimal absorption and are generally safe for long-term use.

Behavioral & supportive therapies
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and clinical hypnosis have been shown to reduce the impact of hot flashes and improve emotional well-being.

Lifestyle and self-care
Regular exercise, balanced nutrition, good sleep habits, and stress management all play an important role in how you feel during menopause. We can help you build healthy routines that support both your physical and emotional health.
